OUR HISTORY
Understanding the significant health impacts and unmet need for a natural treatment to support the bladder muscles, and seeing no other companies willing to take on the challenge of improving bladder control for everyday Australians, Tracey Seipel took on the challenge herself, developing a formula based on her own clinical experience in improving bladder control with her patients. Pilot research soon confirmed the effectiveness of this formula, published in the Australian Continence Journal, and the prototype Urox® was launched.
OUR HISTORY
Understanding the significant health impacts and unmet need for a natural treatment to support the bladder muscles, and seeing no other companies willing to take on the challenge of improving bladder control for everyday Australians, Dr. Seipel took on the challenge herself, developing a formula based on her own clinical experience in improving bladder control with her patients. Pilot research soon confirmed the effectiveness of this formula, published in the Australian Continence Journal, and the prototype Urox® was launched.
Over the next 20 years, Tracey Seipel continued to further develop and refine Urox®, and expanded into the areas of male LUTS, often inappropriately identified as prostate–only problems, overactive bladder, urinary incontinence and children’s bedwetting.
A US randomized controlled trial in the mid 2000’s, ongoing standardizations and refinements followed by a second pilot trial and then comparative trial, led to today’s Urox® formula. Research has been the foundation of the 20-year evolution of Urox®:
- 1999 First formulation launched in Australia
- 2002 Steels et al, ACJ 2002. Pilot, Crateva and horsetail to improve bladder control .
- 2004 Formulation changes to improve effectiveness.
- 2006 Schauss et al, FASEB. RDBPCT, 120 participants, shows Crateva and horsetail combination, UroLogic improves symptoms of urinary frequency, incontinence, urgency and nocturia.
- 2010 Formulation modified to produce faster effects (within 1 month versus 3) with lower dosage (reduced to 2 capsules daily, previously 4/day)
- 2011 Seipel et al, unpublished pilot trials. Urox reduces symptoms of overactive bladder and urinary incontinence.
- 2012 Seipel et al, unpublished trials. Urox with added Lindera aggregata produces faster results and within a shorter timeframe than Crateva and horsetail alone.
- 2018 Schoendorfer et al, Urox RDBPCT, 150 participants. Urox reduced day frequency, nocturia, urgency and urge and stress incontinence. Results occrred within 2 to 4 weeks.
- 2021 Schloss et al, Urox Junior RDBPCT, found that a novel herbal formula Urox Junior assisted children for the treatment of nocturnal enuresis. 2022 Corrigendum to Schloss et al.
This revolutionary research and product development garnered industry accolades including US Nutrition Business Journal award for product innovation in bladder control in 2006. The largest scale randomized, placebo-controlled research study was published in a peer reviewed Journal in January 2018, and the latest children’s bedwetting trial in 2022.
